About Tammy Toney-Butler: https://www.reflectivespacesministry.com/about

Hello, welcome to today's teaching and episode. I'm Tammy Toney-Butler, Healing Evangelist, and your host. But we all know who the host of this podcast, this YouTube channel teaching is, and that's Christ by way of the Holy Spirit. Holy Spirit, come have your way in this time that we have together. May they see you and not me, hear you and not me. May they glean from your field of truth and be forever changed with spiritual ears to hear and eyes to see what it is that you have for them this day and help them, O God, to let go of the things that no longer serve them. Help them to surrender it all to you, Lord, and to walk in obedience, saying, nevertheless, not my will be done, but yours, O God. Help them, Father. Give them the strength like it says in Isaiah forty thirty one and help me to deliver this content with the intent and clarity with which you gave it to me, Lord. May it go to them as you have intended. In the mighty name of Jesus, I pray and declare all things. Amen. Wow. Well, today's episode that the Lord laid on my heart is about being self-controlled. A posture of surrender. So important for a believer. As they walk in alignment with Christ, with God's will, with a kingdom mentality. Nevertheless, not my will be done but yours, O God. Knowing the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, the God of our precious Lord Jesus, orders our steps. And when we are surrendered to God's will, when we are in obedience, When we have an obedient ear of faith to where we can hear and discern the path forward, and we are in alignment, then our prayers will be answered. We are victorious in Christ Jesus. But we must make sure that we are fighting the battles that God wants us to fight, that he's in it with us, Like with Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, he was in the fiery furnace. When David fought Goliath, he was with him. And he was with Daniel in the lion's den. You want to make sure he's with you. And when your steps are ordered by the Lord and your prayers are in line with his will, that his breath of life comes forth and you get to have what you say How do we get there? How do we surrender? How do we become a person that is self-controlled, in charge of our emotions, our feelings? Well, let's jump into what he has for us today and glean from the field of truth, from the word of God. So it's self-controlled, a sermon on surrender. Self-controlled, a sermon on surrender. Let's start by reading Proverbs twenty five twenty eight out of the complete Jewish Bible. Like a city breached without walls. is a person who lacks self-control. Wow. A city breached. That speaks of no protection. No hedge of protection. No covering with which you need. I don't think I want to be in that place. I want to make sure I'm protected. Covered under the shadow of the Almighty God. under that wing of protection. A self-controlled person has regulated emotions, impulse control, spiritual discipline, and a renewed mind. They have the heart of Christ and the mind of Christ. and inner transformation and awakening to all that God has for them and who they are in Christ Jesus. That's our goal. We want to get there. But how do we do that? How do we have self-control for believers? Well, we have to control our emotions, our impulses, again, have that spiritual discipline and that eternal mindset, knowing whose we are and that we were born with a kingdom purpose, that we're here visiting, that this is not our home and that we aren't to resemble the world. We're to be different than the world, to blaze our own trail, be unique, all with our individual purpose, our part to play in the overall large kingdom purpose that God has ordained. Galatians five, twenty two to twenty three out of the complete Jewish Bible. But the fruit of the spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, humility, self-control. There's that word again. Nothing in the Torah stands against such things. So but the fruit of the spirit. So self-control is a fruit of the spirit. It is a fruit of the Spirit. So when we become believers and we come under the Lordship of Jesus Christ, we surrender to the leading and prompting of the Holy Spirit to be led by the Spirit of God, the Spirit of Messiah that is within us. that it is in that strength that we overcome. It is in that strength that we become self-regulated, self-controlled. But it's not anything that we can do on our own. It is the Spirit of God working in us and through us that helps us become like living Jesuses walking around, transformed into the image of Christ. Living, breathing examples of Christ on earth. Father's will being done on earth as it is in heaven, but not in our strength. It is in the strength of God. So if you have problems surrendering, if you need help with that, then you want to make sure that you saved a believer, then this message is for you and that the Holy Spirit lives inside of you. And say, Holy Spirit, come fill me fresh and new. Give me fresh oil for the journey that lies ahead. Strengthen me. Give me self-control. Help me, God. I can't do it in my own strength. But I know, Jesus, you're the advocate. You sent the helper of the Holy Spirit to help us. And with that strength that's inside of us, we overcome. Victory is assured by your work on the cross, by your death on the cross. Let's look at Ezekiel, out of the complete Jewish Bible. The perimeter of the city will be just under six miles long. And from that day on, the name of the city will be Adonai Shema. Adonai is there. Well, that's how we start. We start by knowing that God is with us. God is with us. And I don't know about you, but I don't want to go anywhere that God's not with me, that He's not there. That speaks of presence. That speaks of Him living inside of us. Because remember, we are the temple. The Holy Spirit dwells, the presence of the Lord dwells within us, within the heart of the believer, within us. by way of the Holy Spirit. And we have access to that strength, to that power, to so much because the kingdom of God is in us. So first recognizing our kingdom identity and who we are in Christ Jesus. And look what it said in Job one, ten of the Amplified Bible. Have you not put a hedge of protection around him and his house and all that he has on every side? You have blessed the work of his hands and conferred prosperity and happiness upon him, and his possessions have increased in the land. See, that's that hedge of protection, that fortified city. That's God protecting us as we are in covenant with him, as we are surrendered, following his will, aligned with his purpose for our lives. So how do we get to this place of self-control and live a self-controlled lifestyle? Well, our journey to the truth, we started with Ezekiel, forty eight thirty five, putting the kingdom of God first. And now we're going to look at Psalm seventeen. Prayer, prayer of David. We're going to look at Proverbs three and look at our spiritual heart condition. Do we have any spiritual blockages that are stopping the flow, the word of God from getting in us and penetrating bone and marrow from sinking in? Do we have good soil or is it following by the wayside? Is the cares of this world, the cares of life coming in and creeping in and destroying the word before it takes root? Do we have maybe a blockage of unforgiveness in our heart? Bitterness, anger, hate, pride, self-promotion, so many things, resentment. Do we have any of these things maybe? Hindrances, blockages to the word of God, getting in and doing what it needs to do? Is it being blocked from a heart of offense? Are you offended against something someone said or did? All of these can stop God's will from being done. Remember, we can't walk in any unforgiveness. And that starts by forgiving ourselves. And we'll touch on that in Isaiah, how we're saved by grace and under that forgiveness. And then we'll conclude with Titus two. When we talk about that self-controlled lifestyle. So let's get out our Bibles. I'm going to be reading out of the complete Jewish Bible because that is what the Lord had placed on me to do. I have many different versions. Sometimes I go to the King James, a new King James, the ESV, the Amplify, the message, the passion version. But this is how he gave it to me. And that is how I'm giving it to you. So now let's go to Psalm seventeen. Psalm seventeen. A Prayer of David. Hear a just cause, Adonai. Heed my cry. Listen to my prayer from honest lips. Let my vindication come from you. Let your eyes see what is right. You probed my heart. You visited me at night and you assayed me without finding evil thoughts that should not pass my lips. As for what others do by words from your lips, I have kept myself from the ways of the violent. My steps hold steadily to your paths. My feet do not slip. That speaks of obedience and obedient heart, watching what we say, watching what we do. And remember what the man thinks, so he speaketh. So we want to think on what's noble and pure because out of the heart flows rivers of living water. So we want to ground our heart and ground our mind. Speak with a guarded tongue. and know Father's will and speak it into existence. Now I call on you, God, for you will answer me. Turn your ear to me, hear my words, show how wonderful is your grace, Savior of those who seek at your right hand, refuge from their foes. Boy, that speaks of protection. Protect me like the pupil of your eye. Hide me in the shadow of your wings. From the wicked who are assailing me. From my deadly enemies who are all around me. They close their hearts to compassion. They speak arrogantly with their mouths. They track me down. They surround me. They watch for a chance to bring me to the ground. They are like lions eager to tear the prey. Like young lions crouching in ambush. Arise, Adonai, confront them, bring them down. With your sword, deliver me from the wicked. With your hand, Adonai, from human beings, from people whose portion in life is this world. You fill their stomachs with your treasure. Their children will be satisfied too and will leave their wealth to their little ones. But my prayer in righteousness is to see your face. On waking. May I be satisfied. With a vision of you. This speaks. Of. Seeking first the kingdom of God. See. My. But my prayer and righteous is to see your face on waking. Is God your first thought. In the morning. Is he. Your first. thought is God your first thought do you wake up and say nevertheless not my will be done but yours oh God what do you have for me today how do I serve you today God does your heart posture always go back to true north to God Sure, we may miss it and think on things of the world, but do you immediately try to get your focus back to God's truth? When fear tries to come in, do you immediately say, I don't have fear, but power, love, and a sound mind, and I rebuke you, Satan? Satan, the Lord Jesus Christ rebukes you. It is written, Do you immediately go back to the alignment of the word of God? Do you immediately go back to God's sovereignty? Do you immediately go back to God's truth? Knowing that God is in charge, it doesn't matter what you face in this world. God is in charge. He has us. He has you. He has us protected. Just as this spoke of, we are under his protection. And now let's keep reading. Now we are going to go to Proverbs three. Proverbs three. My son, don't forget my teaching. Keep my commands in your heart for they will add to you many days, years of life and peace. So see that? Don't forget my teaching. Keep my commands in your heart. And if you do that, and if you're obedient, it says here, they'll add years to your life. You can add many days and you can have peace. That peace that surpasses all understanding. Do not let grace and truth leave you. Bind them around your neck. Write them on the tablet of your heart. Then you will win favor and esteem in the sight of God and of people. What do you have written on your heart today? Do you have a spiritual heart condition that I spoke of before? What are you thinking on? Do you have any bitterness, hate, unforgiveness there? Do you have any childhood memories, past hurts that are blocking you from receiving all that God has for you and your healing that he has for you? Do you know that healing is your portion? Do you know that through Jesus' work on the cross, that you've been healed by his stripes, you were healed? Do you believe it? Do you walk in it? Do not let grace and truth leave you. Bind them around your neck. Write them on the tablet of your heart. Then you will win favor and esteem in the sight of God and of people. Trust in Adonai with all your heart. Do not rely on your own understanding and all your ways acknowledge him and he will level your paths. So you see that you put first the kingdom of God and everything else comes. Don't be conceited about your own wisdom, but fear Adonai and turn from evil. So have a healthy fear of the Lord. This will bring help to your body and give strength to your bones. Honor Adonai with your wealth and with the first fruit of all your income, then your granaries will be filled and your vats overflow with new wine. That speaks of tithing that ten percent in, of prospering, of realizing that when you give like that, when you tithe, you're trusting that God is going to replenish you. Because everything that we have comes from God. God created it all. And do we dare speak to the creator, the creation, and tell the creator how to do his thing? No, we submit and surrender. He created everything. Everything comes from God. We must submit and surrender. And that speaks of a posture of trust, realizing that God will take care of every need that we have. He fed the five thousand and he's feeding you now. But do you see it? Do you believe in it? Do you walk in it? After all, Christ was born in a feeding trough and he is our bread of life. Let's keep reading. Honor Adonai with your wealth and with the first fruits of all your income, then your granaries will be filled and your vats overflow with new wines. My son don't despise Adonai's discipline or resent his reproof, for Adonai corrects those he loves like a father who delights in his son. Happy the person who finds wisdom, the person who acquires understanding, For her profit exceeds that of silver, gaining her is better than gold. She is more precious than pearls, nothing you want can compare with her. Long life is in her right hand, riches and honor in her left. Her ways are pleasant ways, and all her paths are peace. She is a tree of life to those who grasp her. Whoever holds fast to her will be made happy. She is a tree of life. So ask for the spirit of wisdom. Ask for the spirit of understanding. Adonai by wisdom founded the earth. By understanding, he establishes the heavens. By his knowledge, the deep springs burst open and the dew condenses from the sky. My son, don't let these slip from your sight. Preserve common sense and discretion. Ask him for common sense, for discretion. Ask him for knowledge, kingdom knowledge. My son, don't let these slip from your sight. Preserve common sense and discretion. They will be life for you, your being, and grace for your neck. Then you will walk your way securely without hurting your foot. When you lie down, you will not be afraid. When you lie down, your sleep will be sweet. That is a promise. And we get to grasp hold of that. Like in Psalm ninety one, we wouldn't even dash our foot against a stone. You see here, it says it. Then you will walk your way securely without hurting your foot. When you lie down, you will not be afraid. Fear is not your portion. When you lie down, your sleep will be sweet. Insomnia is not your portion. I rebuke the spirit of insomnia. I rebuke the spirit of the fear. And I say, peace, be still. God is with you and that is not your portion. And I plead the blood of Jesus over the root of that, where it stems from. Don't be afraid of sudden terror or destruction caused by the wicked when it comes. See, it says it here, it will come. But don't be afraid because God is in charge. Or you can rely on Adonai. He will keep your foot from being caught in a trap. Don't withhold good from someone entitled to it. When you have in hand the power to do it, don't tell your neighbor, go away, come another time. I'll give it to you tomorrow when you have it now. Don't plan harm against your neighbor who lives beside you trustingly. Don't quarrel with someone for no reason if he has done you no harm. Don't envy a man of violence. Don't choose any of his ways. For the perverse is an abomination to Adonai, but he shares his secret counsel with the upright. See that? He shares his secret counsel with the upright. God will guide you, but do you seek him? Do you say, Holy Spirit, help me. Help me to know Father's will. Help me to surrender. Help me to trust. Help me to live a life of obedience, to have a surrendered heart. Help me to understand the ways of the kingdom and walk in God's will for my life. Help me. Help me. Remember, God's a gentleman. He will never force himself upon you. You have to invite him into your situation. He gave us free will. We have choice. Adonai's curse is in the house of the wicked, but he blesses the home of the righteous. The scornful, he scorns, but gives grace to the humble. See, so we want to be righteous and we have blessings. He gives grace to the humble. The wise win honor, but fools win shame. So we want to get wisdom. We want to get understanding. We want to get knowledge. and then the next thing he wanted me to read the next section is isaiah so he wanted me to go to isaiah woe destroyer yourself undestroyed woe betrayer yourself unbetrayed when you stop destroying you'll be destroyed will you tire betray and they will betray you Adonai, show us mercy. We have waited for you. Be their arm every morning and our salvation in time of trouble. At the sound of the tumult, the peoples wander off. When you exalt yourself, the nations are scattered. Your spoil is gathered as if stripped by sheer worms. They run over it like a swarm of locusts. Adonai is exalted for he dwells on high. He has filled Zion with justice and right. He will be the stability of your times. He is our rock. He says here is the stability in our times. And I know it's dark out there and darkness is everywhere, but he is with us. There is no fear in perfect love. There is no fear in perfect love. He will be the stability of your times, a wealth of salvation, wisdom and knowledge and fear of Adonai, which is his treasure. Remember, we are to have that healthy fear of the Lord. We're to respect God. Hear their brave men crying out for help. The envoys of peace weep bitterly. The highways are deserted. There are no travelers. He has broken the covenant, despised the cities. He has no regard for human life. The land is mourning and wilting away. The Lebanon's withering with shame. The Sharan has become like thereof. Bashar and Carmel have been shaken bare. Now I will arise, says Adonai. Now I will exalt and lift myself up. You can see chaff and give birth to stubble. Your breath is a fire devouring you. The peoples will be as if burned into lime, like thorns cut off to burn in the fire. You living far off, hear what I have done. You who are near, acknowledge my strength. Praise him, worship him, acknowledge that God is God. The sinners in Zion are frightened, trembling as sees the ungodly. Who of us can live with devouring fire? Who of us can live with eternal burning? He whose life is right and whose speech is straight. Remember, guard your tongue. And this speaks of that righteous remnant. He who scorns getting rich by extortion, he who shakes his hands free of bribes, stops his ears against talk of bloodshed and shuts his eyes against looking at evil. We need to control what goes in our ear gate and our eye gate so that we can maintain the that holiness, that righteousness unto the Lord, walking as kingdom ambassadors, sold out for Christ, resembling Christ to the world, being different from the world. We shouldn't look like the world. If we look like the world, we have to stop and say, hmm, who are we following? What are we doing? What voice are we listening to? Are we listening to the voice of God or a synthetic artificial alternative? Such a person will live on the heights and his refuge of fortress among the cliffs, his food and water in steady supply. See that? That talks of provision, of protection, of being, having everything you need supplied, supplied for you as long as you're walking in obedience. Your eyes will see the king and his beauty. They will gaze on a land stretching into the distance. Your mind will meditate on the terror. Where is the man who did the counting? Where is the man who did the weighing? Where is the man who numbered the towers? You will not see the intrinsic people, the people whose language is so obscure, whose stuttering speech you cannot understand. Look at Zion, the city of our festivals. Your eyes will see Jerusalem, a secure abode, a tent that will not be removed, whose pegs will never be pulled out and whose guy ropes will not be cut. But there in his splendor, Adonai will be with us in a place of rivers and broad streams. But no boat with oars will go there. No majestic ship will pass by. For Adonai is our judge. Adonai is our lawgiver. Adonai is our king. He will save us. For your ropes are hanging loose, not holding the mast, not spreading the sail. Then the plunder shared out is so huge that even the lame get a part of the spoil. No inhabitant will say, I am ill. The people living there will be forgiven their sin. The people living there will be forgiven their sin. and no one will say I'm ill. Wow, that speaks of life. That speaks of foundation. That speaks of being anchored tightly on a sure foundation on the rock. That's what that speaks of. That's what that speaks of. And that's how we start now to move towards that self-controlled lifestyle. And when we look at Titus two, eleven and twelve out of the complete Jewish Bible, for God's grace, which brings deliverance, has appeared to all people. It teaches us to renounce godliness and worldly pleasures and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives now in this age. Titus two, thirteen and a complete Jewish Bible while continuing to expect the blessed fulfillment of our certain hope, which is the appearing of the Shekinah of our great God and the appearing of our deliverer, Yeshua, the Messiah. Jesus is our deliverer. Titus two, fourteen of the complete Jewish Bible. He gave himself up on our behalf in order to free us from all violation of Torah and purify for himself a people who would be his own, eager to do good. We are his own. We are his people and we should follow his will. Titus two, fifteen of the complete Jewish Bible. These are the things you should say, encourage and rebuke with full authority. Don't let anyone look down on you. Don't let anyone look down on you. You do not cater to the lies of the enemy and listen to a synthetic voice. You don't listen to a synthetic voice and you don't let anyone put you down or tell you you don't matter because you know your place as a daughter or son of the Most High King. You know your spiritual identity. You know who you are as a follower of Yeshua. Let's look at Genesis three of the complete Jewish Bible. Now the serpent was more crafty than any wild animal which Adonai, God, had made. He said to the woman, did God really say you're not to eat from any tree in the garden? It's that voice. that deceptive voice that tries to sneak in, that synthetic voice. But we know the true voice. We know our identity in Christ. We're daughters and sons of the King, heirs to the promise, fearfully and wonderfully made, beauty out of ashes, more than conquerors. And my sheep know my voice. We're spirit-led and aligned with God's will. And how do we get to this place of spiritual alignment? It requires surrender. It's based on trust. Another word for that is faith. Trust or faith helps us overcome trauma triggers. We're led by the spirit and not by emotions. We get to conquer those trauma triggers. We get to reprogram our brain. We get to understand that Christ has set us free. We are not what happened to us. We are overcomers and we overcome. by the blood of Jesus washing us clean, washing away those negative thought patterns. We aren't under any generational curse because we've been set free by God Almighty, by Jesus Christ who came and died and rose again so we could have abundant life. Healing is our portion. Healing is our portion. Obedience becomes easier because we don't do it in our own strength. It's the Holy Spirit helping us obey. It gives us a hunger for God's will, gives us a healthy fear of the Lord, the spirit. When we're guided by the spirit, when we're led by the spirit, it helps us live a surrendered lifestyle and helps us be in spiritual alignment, which is aligned with God's will. and his plan and purpose for our life. For he knew us before he formed us in our mother's womb and knew what we were to be. And we have a purpose. We were born for a purpose. You are a purpose. You have a purpose. You matter. You matter. And what voice are you going to listen to? That synthetic voice that tried to deceive Eve in the garden? Are you going to listen to the true, authentic voice of God Almighty? by way of the Holy Spirit that's in us, working through us and out to others. Hebrews, one through three, out of the complete Jewish Bible. So then, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us too put aside every impediment, that is the sin which easily hampers our forward movement. We don't wanna have one foot in the past. It takes two feet to be in today. And it takes those two feet fully planted on solid ground to have the courage to take one foot and point towards the future. You must get that foot out of the past, get it into today so you can step out into your promise that tomorrow brings. And keep running with endurance in the contest or the race set before us. Some versions say race. That speaks of training like an athlete. You want to train. You want to be spiritually fit, have spiritual fitness, be disciplined like an athlete disciplines himself, like a runner to run the race, to win the marathon, to win the sprint. You want to be disciplined. How do you get spiritual discipline? You train. Walk in obedience to God's will. How do you know God's will? You're in relationship with God. You're in his word. You're praying. You're communicating to God when you're praying. You're talking to God, having that relationship, that father-daughter, father-son relationship. Hebrews twelve, one through three of the complete Jewish Bible, looking away to the initiator and completer of that trusting. Yeshua, who in exchange for obtaining the joy set before him, endured execution on a stake as a criminal. That old rugged cross. scorning the shame and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. That speaks of victory. That speaks of looking at what Jesus did on the cross. What he did on the cross. It is finished. it is finished it started with him and it ends with him it is finished sickness disease depression addiction loneliness despair depression it's all under the blood of jesus We have been set free by the work done on the cross because curse was anyone that hung on a tree and he hung on the tree and put those curses under the law, that condemnation from the sin. He put that and crucified it on the cross. He became a death sentence, a pardon for us. Basically, he became the death penalty. He traded places with us. We had the death penalty, a death sentence. And he said, I'm going to die for you and I'm going to let you off death row and you're going to live. But you have to acknowledge what I did. You have to believe in me. Do you do that? Can you surrender fully to his leading, his prompting? Can you do that? And you see that he sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. He is seated in heavenly places and we are too with Christ Jesus. We have the power and authority to overcome, but do we believe it? Do we use it? Do we walk in our kingdom power and authority? And how do you do that? You draw close to God. You get in relationship with him. You know his will and you partner with God for his will to be done on earth as it is in heaven. Hebrews twelve, one through three of the complete Jewish Bible. Yes, think about him who endured such hostility against himself from sinners so that you won't grow tired or become despondent. You won't grow tired. You won't grow weary. You have the victory. All you have to do is trust. Walk by faith, not by sight. Know that Jesus died so you could have abundant life. And a God, our God loves us so much that he sent his only begotten son, that whosoever believes in him shall have everlasting life. All we have to do is believe on Jesus and have eternal life and have eternal life. John three, sixteen. For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believes on him shall not perish, but have everlasting life. Believe on the Son. Believe on His promises. Know He died and rose again so that you could have victory over sin, sickness, and disease, over depression, loneliness, despair, shame, guilt, fear, regret, self-loathing. All you have to do is partner up with the Holy Spirit that lives inside of you, that dwells in you, and ask him to help you to surrender. Ask him to help you to have that obedient heart, that obedient heart posture, humility, and walk as an ambassador for Christ, the daughter and son of the Most High King. That's how you win. That's how you're victorious. That's how you gain self-control. That's how you have that hedge of protection we spoke of earlier. And that's how you live in a place of victory, knowing God's will, praying in alignment with his will, and having your prayers answered. I thank you for this time that we have together. Father, bless them, keep them, strengthen them, O God. Draw them into deeper levels of revelation, Lord. Draw them into your well of truth. Give them higher levels of understanding. Give them wisdom and knowledge and understanding. Help them to know kingdom truth. Help them to let go and let God. In the mighty name of Jesus, we pray and declare all things. Amen. God bless you. God keep you. May his light shine upon you this day and every day. Glory be to Jesus. Glory be to Jesus. Glory be to Jesus.
