The Abraham Kind of Faith: The Promise

Do you have the Abraham kind of faith? Do you know what I mean by that statement? Does grace save you through faith, or do works justify you?
Can you earn salvation, or is it a gift?
Let's explore this and more with today's message by Tammy Toney-Butler, a survivor of child sex trafficking set free by Christ.
A voice that cries out for freedom, restoration, and healing for all lost in a sea of hopelessness, worry, shame, fear, regret, self-loathing and more.
Today's scripture readings are Isaiah 52, Romans 4, and 1 John.

Hello, welcome, everybody. I'm praying that this broadcast finds you well, rested and at peace, even in the middle of the storms you're facing.
I was prompted to come to you live again today. As always, you never know what technical difficulties you may have.
So, I'm praying that this is coming through. Even if the 99 are safe, He always goes after the one.
Holy Spirit, I invite you into this time we have together today.
This is about them seeing Jesus. It is not about me. I am merely the voice speaking to you, even during your wilderness experience.
When Father has a Word. I come and bring it to you.
And today. He has Words. Words for you.
Whatever you're facing. Wherever you are listening to us. In the world.
Whatever your situation is.
Whether you're struggling to have that Abraham faith to see you through. even when your circumstances speak a different message or bring confusion, doubt, and unbelief.
We're here today to cast away doubt and unbelief so that you can see and hear with new spiritual eyes and ears, and you can have an understanding, clarity, and wisdom that you haven't had before.
To see through what you're facing.
Dark times dictate a Noah or Abraham kind of faith.
Now is the time to have that kind of faith.
And it will see you through as it saw Abraham and the others through.
It saw the early apostles through when Jesus died on the Cross, leaving them bewildered and confused for a few days until He rose again and became the salvation for us all.
I am included in that. He set me free. Broke every chain. Healed every wound. Covered me with His blood, His healing, redemptive blood.
Washed me clean of my shame and guilt and fear and regret. All those things I had in the aftermath, child sex trafficking, childhood trauma. the traumatic insults that happened to me as a child, all that erased by one touch, one moment in His presence, changes everything.
One moment in His presence changes everything.
I thank you today to all who are tuning in and listening. I thank you that you like and subscribe to our YouTube podcast, Avenues and Streams, and all that technology stuff just so his message can get spread.
And that the lost one can hear the message. Let's use technology to our advantage. Technology can be good or bad. We want to harvest its potential as we spread this message of hope and healing, restoration, redemption, and faith. far and wide.
We're going to dive in. And again, the Holy Spirit, by way of His spirit, you know, King Jesus, Lord Jesus, spoke and gave us the messages for today. And we'll be, I'll be reading out of the New International Version (NIV Life Application Study Bible).
I do. I love the King James Version as well as the Tree of Life version.
And I wouldn't say that it was me. I didn't know much about the different versions. The Holy Spirit spoke to me and chose those specific versions so that His Truth could be portrayed.
Oh, Holy Spirit, have Your way. Have Your way, Abba Father. Just speak to them.
I can do nothing. It is all you.
I'm a nervous little girl like that little girl of long ago. But You give me the strength and power to go live when I don't want to and to speak Your Truth.
Let me show them Your grace and Your love and mercy.
Speak through me and use me as a vessel chosen to bring Your Word of Truth to those who are hopeless, lost, and in need of a redemptive Savior, a truth bearer.
When deception rises so greatly in our world, we need the Truth.
And the Truth comes from the Cross and the Blood of Jesus.
And the very first commandment, which is love, love, love.
I lift my fellow brothers and sisters as they watch this, and they have a fresh new lens with which to view the truth and make any veil that's been placed over them via trauma or the past be lifted off now, broken so that they can know Your Truth; hope in him.
Thank you. Oh, Father, I love you so. Thank you, Lord Jesus. Speak to them today as only you can through Your Word. Let them see you. In your mighty name. Amen.
Wow. Oh, I see those who are listening. God bless you as well. We are all brothers and sisters in Christ. All brothers and sisters in Christ. We share the same Father. Doesn't matter where we are in the world. We share the same Father. We're all hopeless creatures that have been born into sin, have sin, and have been saved by His grace.
So today, I will start reading from where He Placed on Me.
I'll start in the Old Testament of Isaiah 52.
We will do quite a bit of reading, but that's what He wants.
So remember His Word is alive. It has the power to break strongholds, to demolish powers and principalities where we don't wrestle against flesh.
So let's call forth His Word and speak it and His truth, that truth of peace and redemption for the world.
Let's let his Truth guide us. Look at it, not to me.
Isaiah 52
New International Version
52 Awake, awake, Zion,
clothe yourself with strength!
Put on your garments of splendor,
Jerusalem, the holy city.
The uncircumcised and defiled
will not enter you again.
2 Shake off your dust;
rise up, sit enthroned, Jerusalem.
Free yourself from the chains on your neck,
Daughter Zion, now a captive.
3 For this is what the Lord says:
“You were sold for nothing,
and without money you will be redeemed.”
4 For this is what the Sovereign Lord says:
“At first my people went down to Egypt to live;
lately, Assyria has oppressed them.
5 “And now what do I have here?” declares the Lord.
“For my people have been taken away for nothing,
and those who rule them mock,”
declares the Lord.
“And all day long
my name is constantly blasphemed.
6 Therefore my people will know my name;
therefore in that day they will know
that it is I who foretold it.
Yes, it is I.”
7 How beautiful on the mountains
are the feet of those who bring good news,
who proclaim peace,
who bring good tidings,
who proclaim salvation,
who say to Zion,
“Your God reigns!”
8 Listen! Your watchmen lift up their voices;
together they shout for joy.
When the Lord returns to Zion,
they will see it with their own eyes.
9 Burst into songs of joy together,
you ruins of Jerusalem,
for the Lord has comforted his people,
he has redeemed Jerusalem.
10 The Lord will lay bare his holy arm
in the sight of all the nations,
and all the ends of the earth will see
the salvation of our God.
11 Depart, depart, go out from there!
Touch no unclean thing!
Come out from it and be pure,
you who carry the articles of the Lord’s house.
12 But you will not leave in haste
or go in flight;
for the Lord will go before you,
the God of Israel will be your rear guard.
[That speaks of protection. The timing.]
[It goes on to say,]
The Suffering and Glory of the Servant
13 See, my servant will act wisely;
he will be raised and lifted up and highly exalted.
14 Just as there were many who were appalled at him—
his appearance was so disfigured beyond that of any human being
and his form marred beyond human likeness—
15 so he will sprinkle many nations,
and kings will shut their mouths because of him.
For what they were not told, they will see,
and what they have not heard, they will understand.
It was talking about the Messiah. Isaiah in the Old Testament foretold of His coming, his sprinkling and washing us clean with His blood, His peace, His protection.
It was the pure sacrifice, the good news of the Gospel, redemption, peace, and salvation.
That's the message that I receive from that. That's what I hear from that. And now, I'm going to go into Romans 4. I'm going to turn to Romans 4. So if you have your Bible, turn it in with me.
And we will get into Romans four.
Now, I have this mark, and for some reason, I don't know if my bookmark fell out, but that's OK. I have it here.
So we're going to go to Romans four now.
Sorry for flipping around, but I'm giving you these as the Holy Spirit gave them to me.
Now, we're going to go to Romans 4.
This talks about Abraham and the Abraham kind of faith, the faith that we all need to have these days as we are challenged by the world, the cultures, the negative voices, and the deception that runs deep throughout our political systems, throughout our systems of the world.
We are to resemble Christ.
We are not to resemble the world.
Those of you who are different or find yourself not fitting in, maybe you're not fitting in because you weren't supposed to, because you're a treasure.
You're fearfully, beautifully, and wonderfully made, daughters and sons of the King, unique with your own purpose. you fit in with Christ.
You're home when you're with Him. We're all brothers and sisters and born into a spiritual family.
Because many of us, like me, didn't have a family.
I lost my dad to suicide and buried him when I was 15. And I'd lost him long before that to Vietnam and complex trauma and to an early divorce with my parents, and then I lost my mom to her own trauma, the cycle of trauma, the cycle of abuse.
Then, I lost her to complications after coping with her trauma through various forms of addiction, whether it was to food, over-the-counter pills or prescribed medications, to obesity. But I'd lost my mom again long before that, to her own internal turmoil, her own self-destruction, her own self-loathing, her own torment, the tormenting spirits.
So those of you who are being tormented now, whether you're depressed or lonely, anxious, or feeling shame about something you've done, you're never too dirty For Christ to heal you.
Trust me, I know. Because I was dirty and I'd sinned, and He washed me clean. He washed me clean because that's what He does.
So now let's read in Romans 4.
Romans 4
New International Version
Abraham Justified by Faith
4 What then shall we say that Abraham, our forefather according to the flesh, discovered in this matter?
2 If, in fact, Abraham was justified by works, he had something to boast about—but not before God.
3 What does Scripture say? “Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness.”
4 Now to the one who works, wages are not credited as a gift but as an obligation.
5 However, to the one who does not work but trusts God who justifies the ungodly, their faith is credited as righteousness.
6 David says the same thing when he speaks of the blessedness of the one to whom God credits righteousness apart from works:
7 “Blessed are those
whose transgressions are forgiven,
whose sins are covered.
8 Blessed is the one
whose sin the Lord will never count against them.
You can't earn your way to heaven. That comes through believing in the Lord Jesus. Believing that He died on the Cross, rose again, was the son of God, And is now seated at His right side in heavenly places.
Believing in Him with that faith in your heart. That's how you get it. You get saved. And then He slowly changes you from the inside out.
And you receive His Holy Spirit of Truth. Walk by faith and not by sight.
There's nothing that we can do. We're sinners. But He washes us clean. And sends us out. Redeems us. Restores us. Makes us new creatures.
And then I wanted to skip over to 1 John.
And then I'll probably come back.
But He wanted me to read after that statement from 1 John.
1 John 1
New International Version
The Incarnation of the Word of Life
1 That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked at and our hands have touched—this we proclaim concerning the Word of life.
2 The life appeared; we have seen it and testify to it, and we proclaim to you the eternal life, which was with the Father and has appeared to us.
3 We proclaim to you what we have seen and heard, so that you also may have fellowship with us. And our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son, Jesus Christ.
4 We write this to make our joy complete.
[And then the next section, walking in the light.]
Light and Darkness, Sin and Forgiveness
5 This is the message we have heard from him and declare to you: God is light; in him there is no darkness at all.
6 If we claim to have fellowship with him and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not live out the truth.
7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin.
8 If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us.
9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.
10 If we claim we have not sinned, we make him out to be a liar and his word is not in us.
Now, remember the context of this. For 1 John was written by John, one of Jesus's original 12 disciples. He was probably the disciple whom Jesus loved, and along with Peter and James, he had a special relationship with Jesus ( Reading out of NIV Life Application Study Bible Notes).
This is an eyewitness account of what happened. So, if you were in a courtroom of law, then basically, John would be your witness to what is unfolding and show you the Truth of the Cross. And when we look here, light represents what is good, pure, true, holy, and reliable. Darkness represents what is sinful and evil. The statement God is light means that God is perfectly holy and true and that He alone can guide us out of the darkness of sin. Light is also related to truth in that light exposes whatever exists, whether it is good or bad. In the dark, good and evil look alike. in the light, they can be clearly distinguished. Just as darkness cannot exist in the presence of light, sin cannot exist in the presence of a holy God. If we want to have a relationship with God, we must put aside our sinful ways of living to claim that we belong to him, but then go out and live for ourselves in hypocrisy. Christ will expose and judge such deceit (Reading out of Life Application Study Bible Notes NIV).
Here, John was confronting the false teachers. But the key is to know that Christ is the way. That He is the Truth. And He says in His Word that we are to love one another as we love ourselves.
And love as He loved us. We are to love. We aren't to seek violence. We aren't to seek the oppression of races of people. That's not in the Holy Bible that I read. That's not in His Word.
And that's not in the relationship that I have with Him. I have the Gospel of Truth, His Truth.
He does not see colors and races. He looks at the heart, the inner man, the inward man.
If he looked at your heart, what would he see? What version of yourself are you portraying? Are you different in public than you are in private? Are you hiding behind a false Christianity? Are you hiding behind a false Christianity where deceptive spirits run so great and good is being called evil and evil good?
Is that what you're doing? Because the God I serve wants peace, love, and joy, and there is no darkness. There's no darkness.
There's His love. that redeems, restores, and brings about peace, unity of the body of Christ, and not division.
We are not subject to the law like the Pharisees and the Sadducees. We are subject to God's Truth. What is His Truth?
It's the work on the Cross by Christ Jesus, Lord Jesus. That's the Truth.
So when we study the Epistles, and we study the work of Jesus on the Cross, by His stripes, you were healed. That is the true Gospel.
Not a Christianity that can be slanted. to hide your sinful nature. If we confess our sins, he's quick to forgive. Those of us who've been saved.
I repent daily. I'm telling you, I do. Even if I think I missed it, I'm like, Lord, I think I missed it. Forgive me for what I've done. It's hard to be in this world. It's hard to know what the truth is.
But you have to look to scripture, and you have to not twist it for your own gain or your own fame.
Christ knows the difference between false and true religion.
What do your actions say?
Do you go out of your way to help a brother? a migrant, an alien, someone who's entered across your path, who he's brought into your sphere to provide for?
What are you following? Be very careful in this hour that you are not deceived by those who are portraying a Gospel that doesn't show the light and love of our pure, pure, priceless Savior, Lord Jesus, who died so I could be set free.
Yes, it means everything to me. I sold everything I had to follow Him. And I count material possessions as nothing. I'm coming to you from a really small shed that we repurposed to make my ministry office.
Truly He gave me life, and I owe Him everything.
When He took the "icky away," the shame, the guilt, the fear, the regret, the self-loathing. Instead, He brought His joy, His weightless, perfect joy and peace. It's just all that to me. I love Him so much.
And His Word is yummy because it is a way of life for me. It's true.
It's seen me through the darkest of times.
But I was dead before He set me free and gave me life. So this is true to me.
I've lived this. I'm living this, this rebirth, this rebirth of purpose. I've lost over 80 pounds, now I'm down 80 or 90 pounds. I'm a completely different person.
I used to cuss like a sailor. And I don't do those things anymore. Because one moment with Jesus changes everything. And I had an encounter that you can't imagine.
I still have so many miracle stories when you follow Him like this. And I follow Him everywhere.
I think I'm attached to the hem of His garment. He can't shake me off. I love it.
He's super glue to me, and I just love it. He won't let you go. Grab hold of Him. Grab ahold of the hem of His garment, and He will never let you go.
He will never leave you nor forsake you. That's the message He has for you today. And I believe I've delivered it as He's wanted me to. The greatest gift I can give you is to see Him, not me.
Look to Him and look to His Word. He'll speak to you like He does. Me, He whispers to me. He knows that love song melody of my heart.
He's in my heart, and we are one.
We're all one in Christ Jesus, remember? He's the Head, and we're the body.
I'm the arm, maybe the leg. I'm not sure. It doesn't matter. We all have our path and purpose, our mission, and our assignment as followers of Christ.
Be strengthened as I pray you out and pray out.
Let's see.
I'm just looking at the YouTube comments.
Oh, thank you for watching from Kenya. Oh, wow. God bless you as well, you guys. Thank you so much for tuning in and all those watching us from the United States and worldwide.
And God gets all the glory. He gets all the glory.
And I do want this to be an encouraging Word for you, no matter where you are, whether you're suffering famine or drought, persecution, or whatever you're going through for exercising your faith.
You stand firm, and you stand strong, and you know that He has you protected and hedged in, as it says in His Word in Psalm 91.
He is our refuge, our ever-present help in times of trouble.
Holy Spirit, be with them, strengthen them, bring them the desires of their heart, and help them to fulfill Your kingdom's purpose for their life.
Strengthen them, oh God, as they face uncertainty, flood, drought, famine, and so many other things.
Wave after wave after wave that keeps hitting them, hitting them, and hitting them.
They stand in faith, and they get knocked down. They stand in faith, and they get knocked down. They stand in faith, and they get knocked down.
What's important is that You renew their strength, like the wings of the eagle. You strengthen them and bring them back up again because they are anchored into You, the Cornerstone, the Foundation. You will never move.
You're steadfast and strong, our true north, our compass, our guide.
Thank you, Father, for watching over them all. The Father of our precious Lord Jesus, Heal them now, those who need healing in their bodies, with this word.
The right foot pain that you're having, He is just healing you now. I don't know who that's for, but with your right foot, just calling forth the healing presence of our Lord Jesus. Your sister who has cancer. Just being healed by the name of Jesus. Lord Jesus, by His stripes, you were healed.
Healing the curse of the law was all nailed to the Cross.
You've been healed in the name of Jesus. He who He sets free is free indeed.
Thank you so much for watching.
Lord Jesus, Abba Father, thank you.
Thank you in the name of Jesus.
I pray those things and declare and decree Your Word of Truth shall go forth and prosper and bring about what You set it to bring about because it's only about You, not me. I'm merely a vessel that You use.
Thank you all so much for listening. God bless you, keep you, and restore you.
Amen.
Take care.
Remember, He loves you, and I love you.
Take care.
God bless.
